CONGRATULATIONS to all our State athletes who again put in another brilliant performance. Of our athletes who qualified through from Region we had a record medal haul, picking up 7 medals over the weekend. Jack won both the 200m & 400m (new State Recs in both), Jake picked up 3 Silvers - Discus, Long & Triple and Scott took out Bronze in the Shot, as did Heather in the 200m Hurdles. Some other great efforts by our athletes in making State Finals were - Steven coming in 8th in the 1500m & 5th in the 3000m, Rhys narrowly missed the 200m Hurdles Final, coming in 9th, as did Scott in the Long Jump which he followed up with 5th in the Javelin and 7th in the Discus. In the Shot Put Beau put in a good effort to come 6th and Sam narrowly missed the final of the Discus, coming in 10th. Jake & Jack both picked up 4th place in the 100m Hurdles & 100m Run respectively, whilst Rhys placed 4th in the Javelin with a great throw, Mitchell was 7th in the Long Jump and Heather also picked up 9th in the 200m Run & 6th in the Final.
In the AWD Invitational Events we had three athletes competing and all three had a great day. Brad picked up a medal of each colour, running a great time in the 100m to take out the Silver, followed by a fantastic throw in the Shot to pick up the Gold and a very good jump at Long to pick up Bronze. Jemma had a a fantastic run in the 100m, running a 2 second PB to pick up the Silver and and went on to take out 5th place in both the Long and Shot. James, as usual entertained the crowd in his 100m where he took out 3rd place and he followed this up with a great jump at Long and a PB in the shot to take out 3rd place in both those events also.
GOOD LUCK to all our athletes competing at State this weekend - Heather, Jemma, Sam, Jack, Mitchell, Scott, Jake, Steven, Brad, Rhys, James & Beau

GREAT RESULTS from this Season's State Multi Championships at Lismore last weekend. The kids competed brilliantly achieving PB's in nearly all their events!!! Heather picked up her first individual State medal coming in 2nd in the U17's with a FANTASTIC effort, running particularly well in the 100m & 800m which was closely followed by Jake and Scott in the U15's taking out 2nd & 3rd respectively. Scott ran a GREAT 800m to leapfrog into 3rd on the last afternoon whilst Jake finally got his long jump up and running again, jumping over 6 metres at last!!! Rhys competed really well in the U13's taking out 5th place in a very competitive & "large" age group, performing particularly well in the 100m & 90mh, whilst Georgia put in a HUGE effort to take out 10th place in the U15's with GREAT runs in the 800m and 90mh. CONGRATULATIONS to Steve Bloem who was named Wollondilly Citizen of the Year at the Australia Day Celebrations in Picton over the Long Weekend. Many of you would see Steve's friendly face every week at our BBQ and in the Canteen where he does a ton of work for the club. In addition to this, Steve volunteers for Warradale Rovers Soccer Club, The Dam Busters Swimming Club, Warragamba Girl Guides, Wigwam and Teddybear Cottage. Steve is also president of Warragamba Public School's P&C. On top of his BBQ & Canteen duties each week at Club, Steve helps out with linemarking and maintenance of the oval and we owe the brilliant renovations, both inside and out, of the high jump shed to Steve and the many, many hours of hard work he put in both pre-season and during it. At the Australia Day ceremony a spokeswoman for the Council said of Steve - "He's helped build a toilet for the Girl Guides, made a caravan into a canteen for the soccer club, worked for hours on a bbq to raise money for sporting clubs and takes nothing but satisfaction away from it all, she said. Steve's known as "Mr BBQ" and at times he helps with functions that his children may not even be part of. He's kind, generous and most of all, a very supportive member of the community." Her words are echoed by our Club - CONGRATULATIONS STEVE on a very well deserved award and THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all your help with Warradale Little A's !!!

NSW ALL SCHOOLS / PACIFIC SCHOOL GAMES (PSG) TRIALS - 2008 - The NSW All Schools (secondary school championships) were held at Homebush from 25-28 September. This year, being a PSG year 10-12 year old primary school athletes were also invited to attend as PSG Trials were run in conjunction with this event. We had four athletes attend who also came away with some great results. Samantha Moore - made the Final of both the Discus & Shot, coming in 4th & 5th respectively with some great throwing. Sam missed making the PSG team by the narrowest of margins as they take 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in the 10-12’s age group. Beau Sciberras - also had a great couple of days competing in both Discus & Shot. Beau placed 8th in Shot & 5th in Discus, again narrowly missing selection for the PSG Team. Scott McCarthy & Jake Stein both competed in the 14’s and dominated the throws for this age group, coming in 2nd & 3rd respectively in the Jav, 6th & 3rd in the Shot & 4th & 2nd in the Discus. Jake also competed in a few other events, coming in 1st in Triple, 2nd in 200mh & Long Jump and 4th in 100mh. Both boys have made the NSW Team to compete at the PSG Championships in Canberra in Nov/Dec 2008. This is a fantastic achievement for the boys, especially as they are two of only four boys who also made the team back in 2005 for the Melbourne Games.

PLEASE REMEMBER - Sprint training for this Friday, 15 August has been cancelled due to Nepean Catholic Zone on Thursday & Razorback Zone on Friday. GOOD LUCK to all our athletes competing at these events and sprint training will resume on Wednesday night at 5.00 pm - hope to see you there - all athletes welcome!!!

2008 / 2009 SEASON REGISTRATIONS - Warradale's Rego Nites are on Friday, 22 August and Friday, 29 August at the Clubhouse from 5.30 pm to 7.00 pm. Registration Fees for this year are as follows - U7 - U17 - $80, Tots to U6 - $60, with ANSW Dual Registered Athletes (available to U13-U17 athletes only who are already registered with an ANSW Club) - $40. This season there will also be a fundraising fee charged per family of $20 which will be added to the first child's fees. A book of tickets will be given to each family to sell in order to recoup this extra cost. Proof of Age will be required for new athletes. If you were not registered with a Little A's Club last year, you will need to provide proof of age.
If you choose to register online please follow this LINK. Once on the Warradale Rego Page, just click on the Registrations link and you will guided through the process. If you wish to do your complete registration online (incl payment) you must have a credit card. All you do then is bring your registration receipt to the Clubhouse at either a Registration, Orientation or Competition Night and you will be given your registration pack including rego numbers etc (these numbers will not be allocated to you online when you register). However, you can go also do a manual registration online whereby you fill out all your details and then just print your rego forms and bring them to the clubhouse (where you can complete your payment by cash or cheque) without having to wait and fill out forms there. If you are not going to do your complete registration online it would still be preferable (and easier, obviously) for families to fill in their rego forms online, print them out and bring them to rego nights - this will save a lot of time for all concerned and make the process much smoother.
DON'T FORGET - State X Country & Road Walks are on this Sunday, 6 July 2008. All Warradale athletes - X Country - U7 to U15 and Road Walks - U9 to U15 are eligible to enter this competition. CONGRATULATIONS to all our athletes who performed so well last weekend at the LAANSW State Championship. Our own little James Slender stole the show again with his heroic 100m run waving to the crowd as he was cheered the entire length of the straight - Fabulous Effort!!! Both James & Jemma started their weekend off well in the Club March Past doing a lap of the ground with the Warradale Flag and Jemma went on to perform brilliantly in her own 100m and Long Jump. Brad Bloem also had a great day with a very fast 100m, followed up by a massive effort in both Long Jump and Shot Put.
In other events Jake ran a massive PB in his 200mh heat, narrowly missing 3rd in the final and coming in 4th by a tenth of a second to third. He followed this up with Bronze in the Triple, Silver in the Discus and another 4th place in the 90mh. Scott had a great weekend with a 4m PB in his discus and also a PB in Shot to come in 4th in both those events and also threw a season PB in the Javelin to narrowly miss the final of that event. Both Teanne & Georgia performed well in their respective walks, both making it through the event unscathed whilst Rhys was unfortunate again in this strange event, even managing to pick up a Warning from a very intellectual judge when he was pushed over the inside railing on the track by another competitor!!! Work that one out .... if you can!!! Steven injured himself prior to State and missed the 1500m in favour of running the 3000m that evening, putting in a great effort to come up with yet another PB in this event!!! Rounding up our State competitors was Mitchell with a great run and PB in the 100mh, followed by a good throw in the Javelin.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OUR ATHLETES AT STATE THIS WEEKEND - Teanne - 1100 Walk, Beau - Shot & Discus, Rhys - Walk, Steven - 1500 & 3000, Georgia - Walk, Jake - 90h, 200h, Triple & Discus, Scott - Shot, Discus & Jav, Mitchell - 100h & Jav. Get well soon Josh.

Please see Sam for more details and to register your name. The Trials are free and if you make the team there is usually a cost of approximately $200 which includes NSW track suit, shirts, singlet, shorts, bag, etc. We have had a few kids represent from Warradale at the Challenge and it is a great fun event!!!
Over the next couple of weeks we have plenty of kids competing in their Regional and/or State Carnivals for Schools. Last week Heather had a great run in the 400m at the Combined High Schools State Championships, representing Sydney South West. Aisha & Georgia had also qualified in the 80mh & 1500mW, respectively but unfortunately due to a clash with winter sports were unable to compete at the Carnival. Well done girls for making it to STATE!!
Alex had his Regional Carnival last week & competed in the 100m & 400m, putting in a very good effort but just missing selection thru to the CIS State Championships next week and Matthew Brennan had a couple of good runs in the Sydney West Regional Carnival in both the 800m and 1500m races.
